The 3¢ Carmine has a group of very similar “mystery marks which are comprised of several pairs of parallel, vertical dashes found at either the bottom (most common), the top and bottom or just at the top (least common) of the right side.
The pages for the 5¢ blue cutting guide arrows have been updated. Several new images have been added.
At this time, we have images for all but 2 of the 16 positions from plates 5 and 6. These are the plates known to have had cutting guide arrows added to the plates after the printer’s proofs were prepared.
Marler's notes on the sub-types of the 3¢ Brown SR2 coils have been added to each relevant listing.
The site is again fully functional...sorry for the downtime.
There were some unexpected ramifications with a small update in the 𝛽eta software we use.
There have been several recent additions, including interesting plate flaws.
The site is now fully functional, with the recent sorting issue resolved.
I have been making an effort to include Marler Type data for all new site additions. These identifications can be a challenge for even the most experienced. Marler Type information is probably the least reliable data on the site. Please consider it to be a 'work in progress'.
Recently, I have added thirty examples of the 3¢ "Two by Two" CPVs (search tag is TDL) and a significant number of 1¢ Green re-entries. I am currently adding re-entries for the 2¢ Carmine.
A new search option, #3 "Alt Search" is likely to be more friendly to visitors using smaller monitors.
On pages with more than two search options, you can now make each of your selections and then 'trigger' the search with a return/enter keystroke, or by clicking the red "Submit Search" link.
We use Statser to measure basic website usage without cookies. The system processes page views, clicks, form submissions without form contents, referrers, browser/device information, error pages, approximate visit duration, and pseudonymous visitor keys. Full IP addresses are not stored permanently by Statser; they are processed briefly on the server to create a pseudonymous visitor key, apply technical exclusions, and optionally resolve approximate GeoIP information. If GeoIP is enabled, the IP address is checked locally against a MaxMind GeoLite2 database to determine the approximate country or city. The visitor IP address is not sent to MaxMind. MaxMind is contacted only to download and update the GeoLite2 database. Detailed data is deleted after the configured detail retention period. For long-term trends, Statser also stores aggregated daily values without individual visitor profiles.
