Multiple Format CPVs

  • There are a few, well documented, instances where an individual printing plate was used to print stamps of more than one format.

Possibly the best known example would be Plate 12 of the 1¢ Green, which was used to print both sheet stamps and coil stamps.

None of these 'pairs' are easy to assemble. Probably the most common single stamp would be the "Shilling Mark", but only on the 1¢ perf. 12 vertical coil. Here, the use of the word 'common' is quite generous. The Shilling Mark is not easy to find; however the other stamps in this group are likely to prove to be even more of a challenge.

As of 2026, there is only a single reported example of most of these pairs. (*)
