2¢ Carmine 12UL93

Reiche states "line through top of design, lower than on 105, original die"

Comments

Matte #810 Reiche No. 106

 Matte #809 is very similar, the line is very slightly lower. It should not be confused with Reiche No. 105. There are currently five very similar CPVs on the 2¢ Carmine: 12UR18 is another. One helpful way to differentiate them is to look closely at the upper right corner, where some retouching may occur.

Leo's Notes

Horizontal line from the left outer oval to the right frame. The line goes through:

  • the diagonal member of the N in CANADA;
  • the King’s forehead; and
  • the right edge of the left leg of the A in POSTAGE.

Similar line on 12UR18. The stamp has a retouch to the UR, and the line is slightly lower.

Guide dot in the centre of the right inner oval.
