2¢ Carmine Plate Flaw

There is a group of vertical hairlines in the lower right.

Comments

  • There are horizontal hairlines from each of the four corners of the stamp.
  • There are also quite significant vertical hairlines in the lower right.
  • The stamp comes from the centre of a ‘block’ of seven (3-3-1). Most stamps in the block show at least one horizontal hairline.

The vertical hairlines are unusual and a challenge to explain.
