A relief break showing a small dot, in the bottom frame below the 'CE' of Cents.
Comments
After the downward 'point' on the bottom frameline below the 'EN' of Cent of position 93LL76, the next impression, at position 93LL66, does not show the 'point', but a dent and a small dot below, in the bottom margin.
Leo's Notes
The breaking occurs in column 6 of the LL pane, and progresses from bottom to top in the column. This is the sequence in which the subjects of plate 93 were laid down on the plate.
- 93LL86 Barely perceptible bulge in the bottom frame below EN in CENTS. It is doubtful that one would be able to pick out this stamp in a bulk lot.
- 93LL76 The bulge in the bottom frame is small but noticeable.
- 93LL66 The bulge is gone, leaving behind a small dot below the frame.
- 93LL56 The bulge and dot are gone. There is a shallow dent below EN on this stamp, the stamps above it in column 6, and all the stamps to the right on the plate.
On all the breaking reliefs I've seen, the breaking extends over many stamps. In contrast, the one on plate 93 extends over just two stamps, and on the first stamp it is barely discernible.
