2¢ Carmine 6UR97

A significant retouch in the lower right with the outer vertical line of the numeral box extended through the bottom frame. The horizontal lines of the lower right spandrel have been redrawn.

Leo's Notes

  • Vertical line of the RNB extends into the bottom margin.

  • All the horizontal lines of the LR spandrel have been redrawn between the leaves and the LR vertical line. This is most apparent to the right of leaves 1 and 2 because the diagonal lines of cross-hatching are missing.

  • LR vertical line was redrawn. As a result, there is no break in the vertical line of the RNB, a key characteristic of Type O2., so the stamp might be identified as Type O1. However, two other Type O2 characteristics are visible: the break in the outer line of the right frame and the dents on the inside of the right frame opposite the crown.

Nearly vertical scratch in the top margin above the right crown.

Guide dot in the centre of the left inner oval.

We use Statser to measure basic website usage without cookies. The system processes page views, clicks, form submissions without form contents, referrers, browser/device information, error pages, approximate visit duration, and pseudonymous visitor keys. Full IP addresses are not stored permanently by Statser; they are processed briefly on the server to create a pseudonymous visitor key, apply technical exclusions, and optionally resolve approximate GeoIP information. If GeoIP is enabled, the IP address is checked locally against a MaxMind GeoLite2 database to determine the approximate country or city. The visitor IP address is not sent to MaxMind. MaxMind is contacted only to download and update the GeoLite2 database. Detailed data is deleted after the configured detail retention period. For long-term trends, Statser also stores aggregated daily values without individual visitor profiles.
