2¢ Carmine 5UL2

very large guide dot just inside the left inner oval.

Research notes:

  • The 'heart shape' of the GGD makes this position quite easy to identify.
  • While not discussed in his book, Marler's collection had several of these varieties with plate positions indicated. These varieties will be discussed in detail, by Leopold Beaudet in a future issue of The Admiral's Log.

Leo's Notes

Large guide dot almost entirely to the right of the left inner oval. It just breaks the border of the oval.

We use Statser to measure basic website usage without cookies. The system processes page views, clicks, form submissions without form contents, referrers, browser/device information, error pages, approximate visit duration, and pseudonymous visitor keys. Full IP addresses are not stored permanently by Statser; they are processed briefly on the server to create a pseudonymous visitor key, apply technical exclusions, and optionally resolve approximate GeoIP information. If GeoIP is enabled, the IP address is checked locally against a MaxMind GeoLite2 database to determine the approximate country or city. The visitor IP address is not sent to MaxMind. MaxMind is contacted only to download and update the GeoLite2 database. Detailed data is deleted after the configured detail retention period. For long-term trends, Statser also stores aggregated daily values without individual visitor profiles.
